Knowing your subject is the most important part of a piece
Once you understand who they are, painting is a breeze
I did not know Isla prior to painting this piece,
but through the connection a painter has with their subject,
I feel I understand her just a bit better
Acrylic on milboard (32x40)
Hiding messes with layers and layers of material is never a good idea

My maternal Grandmother is an incredible woman
This piece pays tribute to her and all she has done
Each item represents one of her passions
I will forever be greatful for all the things my Grandmother has taught me
If not for her, I doubt I'd be an artist
Quilted blanket (24x18)
Some days I wish that I could take my bed wherever I go
Through this bag I can at least take a small part of it with me
I hope to combat homesickness with my bag made of pillowcases
Often times people don't look close enough at the world that surrounds them
There's beauty in the details, but people often get so distracted by the whole
This piece forces people to look close because they don't know what the whole is
(It's tree bark by the way)

Routines is an ongoing series focused on how nightly routines change as we age
This first part looks at simplicity and innocence through it's imagery
Although there are multiple steps, none are overly complicated
Everything is associated more with early childhood
Ink on bristol board (5x8)
Part two of routines focuses more on early adolescence
Less steps, but more complicated
There is still innocence, but now there is also distraction

Moon Man looks at the creativity of young minds
As youth, many come up with stories for things they themselves cannot explain
In this case, the moon must be alive because he has a face
